Yes... ZEND TOTALLY sucks... It's website is a pain, so does zend studio.
zend studio is so slow, I think I need to freeze myself in -270C condition so my body find zend can keep up with my coding speed. My think pad computer is not like high-end but it have 1G mem and 2GHz CPU, and it's even slow to scroll down the code.
what's worse is the Zend seems don't care. they always redirect people to some old posts that helped only a little people.
Mh, well, I disagree. I think Zend Studio is quite a powerful tool, and even on machines slightly slower than what you've described, the overall performance is decent.
All in all, I couldn't really imagine going back to a mere text editor that doesn't offer more than syntax highlighting.
And although I'm not fully convinced yet, I'm really looking forward to the Eclipse-based PHP IDE... if done well, it may become even more powerful.
So my point is: Zend doesn't suck per se, it's just their website
Oh, that website sucks alright
yes it really sucks lately. Even got some time outs.
About Zend Studio. It is a good development tool, but I'm still using Zend studio 4.0 because version 5 is just to slow for my current thinkpad. Markus Eclipse promised to have a decent PHP environment for years. I don't think it's really gonna happen.

I like Zend Studio, but I have to agree that the site sucks. It's incredibly slow not to mention that it loses the session and asks for login over and over again. Annoying.
I tried to post my profile as php talent for 5 times last month. I got in touch with the regional manager for my country and he forwarded my emails to the programmers. Nope. Still not working, my profile just isn't in the database. After some emails and replies I finally sent an email with all the steps I took for posting my profile to the regional manager. Still forward to the programmers. They even asked me to check if is ok now (!) but of course not.. that's why I copy-pasted all the steps for posting my profile... do they need a php programmer to fix their website? I alone could fix it in 1 week - the jobs/talents section and not one or more months as they do .. or don't
